The decoiler is a heavy-duty industrial machine used to hold, secure, and unwind massive metal coils (like steel or aluminum) for processing. It automates material handling by using hydraulic pressure to expand and grip the coil's inner core, and a motorized system to smoothly feed the metal strip into downstream machinery

A hydraulic decoiler handles metal rolls safely and accurately through a straightforward step-by-step process:

  • Loading:The machine's hydraulic cylinder retracts to reduce the diameter of the mandrel, allowing a forklift or coil car to easily slide the heavy metal roll onto the drum.
  • Expanding and Clamping:High-pressure hydraulic fluid drives a central cylinder, forcing the mandrel's tile-plates (or leaves) outward. This mechanism expands the drum to lock the inner diameter of the coil tightly in place.
  • Uncoiling:A heavy-duty AC motor rotates the mandrel, pulling the metal sheet off the roll. Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) are typically used to match the exact speed required by the production line.
  • Tension Control:An inductive sensor bracket or a pneumatic/hydraulic dancer arm constantly monitors the slack of the strip. It adjusts the rotation speed of the decoiler in real-time, preventing the material from wrinkling, rebounding, or snapping.

It lifts up and down with a hydraulic cylinder (110mm bore, 300mm stroke) and moves forward and back with a hydraulic motor . No more fighting with a forklift to line things up perfectly.
